Grief Support Group Meetings

We invite you to attend HAND grief support meetings. At these informal gatherings you can receive and give support by sharing common experiences as we work through and resolve our losses. Meetings may start out with a topic of discussion, but everyone is free to bring up any questions or aspects of their loss that may concern them.

Attending your first meeting may take courage, but parents who attend find a comforting network of support, encouragement, friendship and understanding. Nothing is required of you. There are no dues or fees. You need not speak one word. Even if you no longer need the meetings for yourself, come and share your experiences with someone who has recently suffered a loss.

Subsequent Pregnancy Support Group Meetings

Parents who are pregnant again after a loss have special emotional and psychological needs. Pregnancy Support Group meetings address the concerns of bereaved parents who have started or are thinking about starting another pregnancy. Fathers are especially encouraged to attend. Subsequent Pregnancy Support Group Meetings – San Francisco


If you are pregnant again after a loss, you may have unique emotional needs as you grieve your lost child(ren) while preparing for the birth of a new baby.
Partners are especially enouraged to attend.  Cherie Golant, LCSW, is the group facilitator.  She is a bereaved parent with two subsequent children.  The group is offered at no charge and on a drop-in basis.

Other Support Groups

Grupo Amparo is a Spanish language support group in San Francisco for mothers, fathers, and families who have experienced pregnancy loss or death of their babies in the first year of life. It’s free.
